Two long-running shows – Stomp and Chicago – continue their presence in the West End by extending their booking periods, while new musical on the block, Jersey Boys, announces complete casting for its forthcoming London premiere production.Stomp, which has been thrilling West End audiences for over five years by making music out of the mundane, is now booking at the Ambassadors until October 2008. However, from 25 March the show reduces its schedule of performances from eight shows a week to four, running nightly from Thursdays to Saturdays with a matinee on Saturday.
Meanwhile over at the Cambridge, murderous musical Chicago, which celebrated its 10th birthday in the West End in December last year, has announced another extension to its run, to 28 February 2009. New musical Jersey Boys will be hoping for as much success when it opens at the Prince Edward on 18 March (previews from 28 February). The Broadway import, which relates the rise to fame of 1960s US pop group Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, has announced the full cast to join the principal quartet of Ryan Molloy (Frankie Valli), Stephen Ashfield (Bob Gaudio), Phillip Bulcock (Nick Massi) and Glenn Carter (Tommy DeVito).
Scott Monello will be the alternate Frankie Valli, with Simon Adkins as Bob Crewe, Suzy Bastone as Mary Delgado, Michelle Francis as Francine, Jye Frasca as Joe Pesci, Tee Jaye as Barry, Tom Lorcan as Donnie/Knuckles, Stuart Milligan as Gyp Decarlo, Amy Pemberton as Lorraine, Joseph Prouse as Norm Waxman and Griffin Stevens as Hank Majewski. The rest of cast comprises Paul Ayres, Laura Brydon, Lucinda Gill, Mark Isherwood, Kieran Jae, Graham Vick and Ben Wheeler.
Jersey Boys opened in New York in 2005 and won four Tony Awards the following year. With a story by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and featuring a soundtrack of Four Season hits written by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe, the musical follows these four blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks as they become an international success with tunes including Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Big Girls Don’t Cry and December 1963 (Oh What A Night).

Jersey Boys, the award-winning Broadway musical, will open in London’s West End at the Prince Edward Theatre on Tuesday 18 March, following previews from 28 February.
Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito – and how this group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American and International pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were thirty.
The London cast will be headed by Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli, Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, Phillip Bulcock as Nick Massi, Glenn Carter as Tommy DeVito and Scott Monello as the alternate Frankie Valli. They will be joined by Simon Adkins as Bob Crewe, Suzy Bastone as Mary Delgado, Michelle Francis as Francine, Jye Frasca as Joe Pesci, Tee Jaye as Barry, Tom Lorcan as Donnie/Knuckles, Stuart Milligan as Gyp Decarlo, Amy Pemberton as Lorraine, Joseph Prouse as Norm Waxman and Griffin Stevens as Hank Majewski. Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe. The London production will be staged by the entire original Broadway creative team, led by director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo.
Jersey Boys opened in New York in November 2005 and became an immediate sell-out. Jersey Boys won four 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and continues to play to standing room only at the August Wilson Theatre. Jersey Boys is also the winner of the 2007 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
Jersey Boys will be produced by Dodger Theatricals, Joseph J. Grano, Tamara and Kevin Kinsella, Pelican Group, in association with Latitude Link and Rick Steiner, and a small group of UK colleagues.

Members of FSB Travelers and their guests traveled to Houston last Saturday for lunch and a musical.
The day began with a delicious lunch at the Artista Restaurant located inside the Hobby Center in the Arts District of Houston. Each traveler made selections from the menu and were served the appetizer, entree, and dessert of their choice. Whether the traveler chose the chicken, the beef, or the shrimp for their entree, everyone raved about the taste and the presentation of their meal. The attentive servers completed the positive experience.
Everyone then settled in to enjoy Jersey Boys, the 2006 Tony Awards winner for best musical. Jersey Boys is the story of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. This musical group entertained America during the 1950’s and 1960’s with such hits as Silhouettes, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Earth Angel, Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, My Eyes Adored You, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Rag Doll and many more.
Often times as the group began singing a particular song, the audience would applaud and cheer as the memories poured out of times gone by.
The stars in the production were Christopher Kale Jones as Franki Valli, Steve Gouvela as Nick Massi, Erik Bates as Tommy DeVito, and Andrew Ranells as Bob Gaudio. Erik Bates actually sang with the real Franki Valli as a touring member of the Four Seasons. Steve Gouvela has been with Jersey Boys since it began in 2004. As a musician, Mr. Gouvela played for Franki Valli as well as The Doors, Manfred Mann, and other groups. Christopher Kale Jones has been singing soprano since he was in the first grade. It seems like this part was made for him. The credits of the stars and the supporting cast include many productions on stage and television.
Those participating in this trip were: Robert and Pris Bautista, Barbara Bonner, Amanda Burleson, Doris Casey, Rose Kubulan, Loy Newberry, Sue Richards, Edith Scott, Lynn Shaver, Mary Stephenson, Dell Terry from Fairfield; Jim and Diana Bradley, Annette Brannan, Linda Collins, Dalton Longenbaugh, Glenda Nelson, Barbara Rader from Groesbeck; Anna Steele from Marlin; Kris and Maranda Gauze from Killeen; Kay Forman from Mexia; Mable Lene Curry from Thornton.
FSB Travelers is a travel group whose members are customers of The Farmers State Bank located in Groesbeck, Thornton, Wortham, Mexia, Fairfield, and Kosse. The travel coordinator is Jerri McBay from Fairfield. The next scheduled trip is to see Steel Magnolias at the Casa Manana theater in Ft. Worth in February.

Part concert, part Jukebox musical, Jersey Boys took in over $400,000 at the box office the day after it opened. Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse on October 5, 2004 and ran through January 16, 2005.

The next day, the second national tour debuted at the Curran and ended its run on September 30, 2007, before transferring for a long run at Chicago’s LaSalle Bank Theatre through 2008. The second tour started in Chicago on October 5, 2007 with Chicagoan Michael Ingersoll in the role of Nick Massi. The national tour was promoted prominently by Broadway In Chicago and TheatreDreams who included it as part of their subscription series. The Chicago showing brought Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio to Chicago for opening night and was promoted prominently, including a December 9, 2007 puck dropping at a Chicago Blackhawks game. Meanwhile the original US Tour continues to make its way across the country.
